The Ferrari Portofino is a 2+2 hardtop convertible grand tourer. Named after the village of Portofino on the Italian Riviera, the car follows the Italian brand previous V8 grand tourer, the California T.
The car was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
On July 9, 2018, Ferrari received the Red Dot: Best of the Best award for the pioneering design of the Portofino. The international commission stated that the Portofino “symbolizes impressive evolutionary progress” and “captivates with an exciting design language”, further underlining the vehicle’s elegance through its uncompromising quality in material and workmanship.
The engine, a 3.9 twin-turbo V8, is the same as in the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T, but delivers a slightly tuned power of 600 hp at 7,500 rpm and 760 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm. Changes to the engine include a slight 10% pressure increase in the combustion chamber, redesigned/modified connecting rods and pistons, and a one-piece cast exhaust manifold. The car retains the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission of its predecessor, but features newer software for faster gear changes. The exhaust system has been modified to give the car an even more magnificent tone while retaining its grand touring character, with an adjustable electric bypass valve that adjusts the sound of the engine based on driving modes and conditions.
The Portofino can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 10.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 320 km/h ( 199 mph).
